Sap Flow System

Dynamax

Dynamax develops and sells a variety of agricultural research products, including a number of sap flow meters. Sap flows very slowly and precise temperature readings are required to obtain accurate sap flow measurements. Accurate sap flow measurements allow horticulturists to optimize irrigation schedules and to obtain data to model forest growth rates among other things.

Indus Instruments designed the electronics for an upgraded sap flow measurement system, the SapIP, that collects sap flow data and transmits it over a 2.4GHz wireless mesh network. The SapIP is designed for very low power operation and when installed with a solar panel and rechargeable battery can provide convenient off-the-grid operation for agricultural research.
