EyeSys
Vision was interested in reducing the size, cost, and complexity
of an instrument for corneal topography that they were producing
and marketing. The device had multiple frame grabbers, PC interface
circuitry, and VGA image generation circuitry built into a passive
PC backplane with multiple cables. Indus helped redesign and repackage
all the electronics for the device into a single board.
Shown to the left is a six layer circuit board that makes extensive use
of surface mount technology and programmable gate array logic. This board
replaced the entire passive backplane assembly, reduced cabling and space
requirements and offered better functionality than the earlier device.
The manufacturing costs in electronics subassemblies alone dropped from
$1200 down to $500.
The final product has been in production for several years and is sold
as the Eyesys/Premier System2000. Indus has also assisted Premier Laser
with OEM supply of the boards.
